(Mechanicsville, MD) July 21, 2010- Pro Outlaw Doorslammers (POD) are ready to bring it as they head to Maryland International Raceway (MIR) on Saturday, July 24, 2010. The POD is capitalizing on positive momentum and with the support of Mike Keller of Keller Motorsports sponsoring the quickest two (2) qualifiers and Royce Miller of Maryland International Raceway hosting the event, it is sure to be awesome!

The last event on the POD tour was pivotal in the continued growth of POD. POD had new members join, as well as members from last year's roster re-join the organization. These milestones position POD to continue to be one of the safest and fastest clubs on the East Coast. Additionally, that event posted great side by side action, fast cars and most importantly a great show for the fans. POD wants this next event at MIR to produce the same fantastic results.

“The POD has changed to ensure well organized, professionally managed and well supported race events,” states POD Director, Maurice Bea. “MIR is one of the premiere facilities on the East Coast and POD is excited about competing there again.”

MIR has wonderful facilities, a great racing surface, and is sure to produce record setting times for POD racers and fans. With the excitement of this event, POD has several teams pre-entered. Just to tease you with a few, attending the event will be:

John Bartunek in the sweet ’68 Camaro
    • The 68 supercharged Camaro of Kenny Keller
TJ DeHaven with the beautiful supercharged ’63 Corvette
Kevin Fortney’s 822 5 stages Buck NOS Powered Chevy Monte Carlo
Maurice Bea with recently acquired NOS Maverick
Kenny Ferguson and crew with the new 904ci NOS powerplant
    • The All Naturally Aspirated Grand-Am of Meadows Racing
David Merz piloting the sweet Pontiac GTO
Dwayne Wolfe in the supercharged 2002 Wolfe Racing Firebird
    • The NOS Camaro of Mark Spalding
Michael Knight sporting the ’04 JBRC Chevy Cavalier
    • The 68 Turbo Camaro of Andy Jensen

Saturday’s schedule begins with gates opening at 10:00 am, on track action beginning with two scheduled qualifying passes at 3:00 pm and 5:00 pm, followed by round one of eliminations at 7 pm.

Keller Motorsports, proud member of the POD has offered up cash to the top 2 qualifiers at ...

On the hottest day of the year, Fathers Day, dedicated racers traveled from near and far to compete in the first POD race of the season held at Maryland International Raceway. John Bartunek came down from Pearl River, NY and went on to say that he had heard a lot of good things about the POD and he wanted to and will continue to compete in our program.

The story of the day though was Andy Jensen’s Turbonetics ’68 Camaro, traveling from Nescopeak, PA, who qualified last in the field and went on to claim victory with a 4.10 over Mark Spalding’s 4.33. Matt Suite, the number one qualifier with a 4.16, knew that even though Jensen qualified dead last he had his work cut out for him in the first round of eliminations. Suite had Jensen off of the tree; however Jensen took the win with a 4.04 over Suite’s 4.19. Lee Angles left the Bounty Hunter at home and brought out his 2002 Camaro for this race. Due to Charles Kelly's Buck Powered S-10 not being able to make first round, and Bartunek breaking for the second round after his win over Kenny trashing-talking Ferguson, Angles went into round 3 unchallenged. Unfortunately, Angles did not make the call into the semi-finals against Jensen because of engine problems.

On the other side of the ladder, Jeremy Hoy defeated Kenny Keller in the first round, while Bill Meadows was put on the trailer by "5-stage" Kevin Fortney. Jeff Mullins went onto the second round by claiming victory over TJ Dehaven, who qualified number two with a 4.18. Spalding defeated Steven Evans, laying the groundwork for his round two win with a 4.21 over Hoy’s 4.33. Fortney took the win over Mullins, setting up the semi-final round against Spalding in which he lost with a 4.38 to Spalding’s 4.25.

The POD would like to thank all of the racer teams and fans that came out on this blazing hot day to support us. We would also like to that Maryland International Raceway for providing us with the quality race venue. Jason Miller told us that he has never seen Pro cars get in the lanes as quickly and organized as we did- that is a great compliment to our organization, but we could not do it without the support of the race teams. Because this race was such a success, Mike Keller, team member of Keller Motorsports has committed $500 for the number one qualifier for the July 24th race at MIR entitled East Coast Door WarZ. This race is promised to be action packed with the baddest of the bad outlaw Promods. Please be sure to visit the forum for future announcements and updates regarding the upcoming race.
Thank you again for your continued support of the POD. See you at the track!
